At Governors’ Balloon Safaris, Safety is our number one priority. All our balloons are fully certified aircraft and are constructed by KAVANAGH BALLOONS PTY of AUSTRALIA, one of the most successful manufacturers of Balloons in the world, operating with the highest international standards.
Our Balloons are built to SAFARI specifications, which is considered to be the highest specification for the rugged terrain and operating conditions found in the Masai Mara.
The baskets are reinforced with Kevlar and padded internally with seats for landing, ensuring the highest levels of passenger safety and comfort at all times. Our balloons are equipped with all the safety features as required by the international aviation organisations.
All passengers receive a thorough and comprehensive safety briefing before take off and we constantly review and audit our safety procedures. Our safety record, that spans 40 years as one of the first operators to establish in the Masai Mara, is impeccable.
Certification & Approvals
Governors Balloon Safaris is a fully certified Air Operator and operates under KCAA (Kenya Civil Aviation Authority) Air Operator’s Certificate no. 011 The commercial regulations for Balloons and Balloon operations in Kenya are very comprehensive and compare with the most thorough operating standards practised anywhere in the world, on a level with any small airline. Governors Balloon Safaris is audited annually by two instances: an independent quality inspection by a certified aviation inspector and KCAA for the renewal of the Air Operator's Certificate. We, at Governors Balloon Safaris, apply the highest standards for inspection, maintenance and operations for our aircrafts and operations as stipulated by both the manufacturer, KAVANAGH Balloons of Australia and KCAA. All our pilots are highly experienced commercial balloon pilots from around the globe, generally with over 10-20 years / 1000 hours commercial flying experience. These pilots have their initial ratings from the US, UK and Australia, countries recognised as having the most demanding licensing standards in the world.
