David Nguruga Eris
David was born in Kenya, in the Laikipia county. He did his schooling in Naivasha and in 1991, joined one of the Balloon operators in the Masai Mara as a crew member.
Soon, David was promoted to the crew chief and in 2007, the company saw his potential, and decided to sponsor him for training as a balloon pilot.
David went to UK and Italy for his training, and returned to Kenya as a junior pilot. He carried on with more training and hours building, and after a series of thorough tests and exams, both practical and theory, with the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority approved examiners and instructors, he became a fully fledged commercial balloon pilot.
David is proud to became the second African Balloon pilot in the aviation history of Kenya.
In David’s words “I am proudly working for Governors Balloon Safaris as one of their senior pilots. It is the best balloon operation in the world, and operates in the world’s famous wildlife sanctuary the Maasai Mara.”
We are proud to have David as an integral part of the team. David is also incharge of the daily maintenance of the Balloons as the KCAA approved Maintenance Pilot.
